Our History
Almost 40 years ago the Mt. Tabor SDA Church polled the Mt. Tabor Community asking what service was most needed in the neighborhood. The overwhelming response was quality childcare. The church took that request seriously and almost a year later opened Discoveryland as a non-profit faith-based preschool. As the needs in the neighborhood changed, so did our program. In 2005, we opened an Infant/Toddler Component.

Our Mission & Philosophy
It is our Discoveryland Mission to provide a high-quality early childhood education and care program to our community. We offer play experiences that contribute to the physical, social, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual development of each child.
We believe that children learn best in a play-rich environment. Close relationships
facilitate a safe, non-stressful learning environment where we can naturally learn and grow together through play, routine, music, stories, nature, hands-on activities, cultural experiences, and outreach projects.
Our philosophy and mission guide our decision making. We incorporate them into our daily schedule, lesson planning, weekly themes, room arrangements, assessments, our annual calendar, our staff meetings, and our daily interactions. Staff and children are aware that it is our goal to learn and grow together in a kind, peaceful, happy environment.
