Frequently asked questions
Once your child is a year old and on a regular diet, Discoveryland provides a morning snack, a nutritious vegetarian lunch and an afternoon snack.
Each snack consists of 2 food groups, often including fresh fruits and vegetables.
Discoveryland is a service provided to the Mt. Tabor Community by the Mt. Tabor Seventh-day Adventist Church. Discoveryland is licensed with the state of Oregon as a faith-based child care center. As we go about our day learning and growing, we incorporate spiritual development through songs, stories and prayers. One moment we are singing The Wheels on the Bus and the next we are singing God is So Great. We have child friendly prayers we say before eating. One of the children’s favorite time of the week is when Pastor Katelyn comes in to tell a short Bible story.
Staff turnover always makes us sad when it does happen. We are blessed that it is not something we deal with on a regular basis. Our current staff have been here between almost 3 and 36 years.
No, Discoveryland provides care for children from 3 months through 8 years. Once a child is at least 2 ½ and potty trained they move into our potty-trained classrooms.
We absolutely love it when graduates return and it happens a lot! We offer a Summer Camp program for graduates who are 5 through 8 years old. We have graduate volunteers. We also have graduates who work as Camp Assistants during the summer. We even have graduates who have returned to Discoveryland as Teachers! It is a great joy to watch your children grow up!
We appreciate qualified volunteers. We also appreciate visiting artists, musicians, and authors. We can always use lightly used books, blocks, and other educational toys. If you want to make a monetary donation, you will receive a tax receipt since we are a non-profit child care center.
